Wiacom Connect
Frictionless Wi-Fi Identity for Modern Networks
Wiacom Connect is a smart device and user recognition engine designed to streamline Wi-Fi access across hospitality, retail, and smart venues.
It eliminates login friction, handles MAC address randomization, and delivers consistent, GDPR-compliant experiences across all your locations — without requiring apps, certificates, or complex onboarding.
What is Wiacom Connect?
Wiacom Connect is the companion of the Wiacom Captive Portal that recognises returning WiFi users across visits and locations through a unique identifier, never through the MAC address. It enables frictionless re-authentication, personalised journeys and persistent first-party identity, even when a device’s MAC address changes.
In practice, it uses identity and session context, such as email or phone identity, browser and session information, secure tokens and previous WiFi interactions, to answer one question: is this the same user who connected before? The MAC address is not used in any combination.
What Wiacom Connect enables
- Automatic or simplified returning-user login
- Welcome Back journeys instead of a full registration
- Recognition across multiple locations
- Continuity of consent and user identity
- Repeat-visit analytics and segmentation
- Personalised portal journeys
- Better resilience to MAC address randomisation
Wiacom Connect Key Features
✅ One-Time Registration
Let guests connect once — and be remembered. Wiacom Connect supports email, phone, social login and click-through access, intelligently linking returning users to their profiles.
✅ MAC Randomization Resilient
Wiacom Connect reliably recognises returning users even if their device MAC address changes. It never uses the MAC address, relying instead on a unique identifier and advanced session logic.

✅ Effortless Multi-Location Support
Users are auto-recognized across all your properties, whether it’s a chain of hotels, a nationwide retail footprint, or roaming urban hotspots.
✅ App Awareness & Consent Tracking
Detect if users have your mobile app, and dynamically adjust the journey. Built-in marketing consent capture ensures full compliance with GDPR and local data laws.
Why MAC addresses can no longer identify returning guests
Modern iOS and Android devices use private, randomised MAC addresses by default, so a MAC address can no longer reliably show that a guest is returning. Wiacom Connect does not use the MAC address in any form, so randomisation does not affect it. Read more in why MAC address randomisation broke guest WiFi analytics, and how to fix it.
Where Wiacom Connect fits
Wiacom Connect is a companion to the Wiacom Captive Portal and works only in captive portal environments. It recognises the returning user when they connect through the captive portal.
Wiacom Connect is not a companion of Guest Connect, a separate onboarding channel via URL or QR code that has nothing to do with MAC addresses. A unique PSK (WiFi Pass) and Passpoint Connect are not affected by MAC address randomisation either, so they do not need Wiacom Connect. Wiacom delivers both through captive portal registration or Guest Connect.

Hospitality
Deliver a branded, app-like onboarding experience that remembers guests and creates personalized interactions from check-in to check-out.

Smart Session Logic
Wiacom Connect uses intelligent session handling and location-aware provisioning to reduce duplicate records, unify customer profiles, and ensure a seamless user experience — regardless of how or where the user connects.
Built for Scale. Designed for People.
With smart session logic and a user-first approach, Wiacom Connect is redefining how people experience Wi-Fi — across locations, devices, and moments that matter.
From recognition to results
Recognising returning guests only matters if it drives something: faster reconnection, accurate return-visit analytics and campaigns that reach the right people. Wiacom Connect works inside the Wiacom Captive Portal, together with:
- WiFi analytics: return rate and visit frequency based on recognised users, not raw MAC addresses.
- Marketing and engagement: Welcome Back journeys and campaigns based on visit history.
- Wiacom CDP: first-party profiles that continue across visits and locations.
- Managed WiFi services: Wiacom can also configure and operate the WiFi infrastructure behind the portal.
Some guests should not need the portal at all on a return visit. Where your WiFi infrastructure supports it, Passpoint Connect or a unique PSK (WiFi Pass) gives credential-based connection that is not affected by MAC address randomisation. Wiacom delivers both through captive portal registration or Guest Connect.
Wiacom Connect FAQs
What is Wiacom Connect?
Wiacom Connect is the companion of the Wiacom Captive Portal that recognises returning users across repeated WiFi visits and locations through a unique identifier, never through the MAC address, so MAC address randomisation does not affect it.
Is Wiacom Connect the same as Guest Connect?
No. Guest Connect is a separate onboarding channel via URL or QR code and has nothing to do with Wiacom Connect or with MAC addresses. Wiacom Connect is a companion of the Wiacom Captive Portal only. The same applies to Passpoint Connect, which is not affected by MAC address randomisation.
Does Wiacom Connect need an app?
No. It works without an app, certificates or complex onboarding.
How does Wiacom Connect handle MAC address randomisation?
It does not use the MAC address at all. It recognises returning users through a unique identifier, supported by identity and session context, such as email or phone identity, browser and session information, secure tokens and previous WiFi interactions, so a changed MAC address makes no difference.
Is Wiacom Connect GDPR-compliant?
Wiacom Connect keeps the guest’s consent and identity continuous between visits, and marketing consent is captured at registration. Compliance depends on how consent and data retention are configured, so confirm your exact wording with legal counsel.
